THESIS ABSTRACT

Executive Summary

The new 110,000SF medical education building will be completed on the East Baltimore Campus as the medical curriculum is updated and revised. After a generous donation by S. Anne and C. Michael Armstrong, the new building will facilitate better interaction and exchange of ideas between students and staff in all the medical disciplines.

A full height glass curtain wall greets the occupants at the main entrance of the medical education building on the southwest side of the building and directs attention and flow into the central atrium of the building. The ground floor of the building is the heaviest trafficked area with a large lobby prefunction space, cafe and auditorium. The four story building will hold a state of the art video-conferencing recording studio, a state of the art anatomy laboratory, various meeting spaces and studios and a full locker and bathroom facility on the fourth floor. The full height atrium providing ample daylight from the skylight above to all four floors from the center of the building.
